Time:
10:00 AM – Noon
Location:
West Port Angeles along Salt Creek (address provided after registration)

Event Description
Join Clallam Conservation District and the Washington Department of Natural Resources for a free, hands-on field workshop designed for landowners ready to care for their newly planted native plants with confidence.

This practical session builds on our previous planting workshop and focuses on effective maintenance techniques that improve plant survival and long-term success. Participants will tour a site along Salt Creek where native plants have been installed and learn directly in the field, no classroom lecture involved.

During the workshop, you will learn how to:

  • Protect young plants from wildlife damage (including deer, elk, and beaver)

  • Monitor and manage invasive weeds

  • Check soil conditions to maintain proper soil moisture

  • Spot basic signs of tree health

We’ll also explore the surrounding forested area and discuss the importance of riparian vegetation, including their role in keeping water clean and cool, supporting wildlife, and enhancing landscapes.

Whether you’re continuing a recent planting project or just getting started, this workshop will give you the tools and confidence to help your native plants thrive.

What to Expect
Please come prepared for changing weather conditions by wearing sturdy walking shoes or boots and dressing in layers.
