Event Description
Start your native planting project with effective techniques that improve survival and growth.
Join Clallam Conservation District and Washington Department of Natural Resources for a free hands-on, field-based workshop designed specifically for landowners ready to plant newly purchased native plants with confidence. This practical workshop focuses on techniques that improve survival rates, reduce costly mistakes, and set your planting project up for long-term success.
Participants will learn how to match plants to site conditions, effectively prepare planting effectively, correctly install plants, protect them from wildlife damage, and provide the care needed during the critical early establishment period. This is not a classroom lecture, you’ll learn proven methods directly in the field on a newly planted site.
Whether you’re planting for habitat, erosion control, privacy, landscape restoration, or forestry, you’ll leave with practical skills you can use immediately on your own property.
What to Expect
This workshop includes approximately one mile of walking over varied terrain. Participants should be comfortable walking outdoors and standing for portions of the presentation.
Please come prepared for changing weather conditions by wearing sturdy walking shoes or boots and dressing in layers.
