Identification and Control of Invasive Weeds

Date: Wednesday, May 20, 2026
Time:
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location:
West Port Angeles near the Elwha River (exact address provided to registered participants)

Join the Clallam County Noxious Weed Control Board and Clallam Conservation District for a hands-on workshop focused on identifying and managing invasive noxious weeds that threaten our local landscapes.

Participants will learn how to confidently identify common invasive weeds by viewing real plant samples, understand how they spread, and why their control is important for farms, forests, and natural areas. Attendees are encouraged to bring weed samples from their own property for identification and discussion.

During the workshop, participants will split into smaller groups based on interest areas:

  • Pastureland Management

  • Native Habitat Restoration

These breakout discussions will focus on common weed issues within each landscape type and practical management strategies landowners can use right away.

Whether you actively manage land or simply want to become more informed and proactive, this workshop is a great opportunity to build skills, connect with local experts, and help protect the landscapes we all depend on.

What to Bring

  • Weather-appropriate clothing and footwear

  • Water bottle

  • Weed samples from your property (optional)
