Event Description
Join us for a free tour of a local organic vegetable farm located in the foothills of Port Angeles that has successfully incorporated cover cropping into its operation.

Farm owner Melissa Levenstein of Hidden Penny Farm, along with staff from the Clallam Conservation District, will discuss the many benefits of cover crops, including improving soil health, managing nutrients, controlling weeds and pests, and enhancing water retention.

Participants will also learn about selecting appropriate cover crop species, optimal timing of planting, seedbed preparation, and effective termination methods.

Participants who register by April 13, 2026, are eligible to receive free cover crop seed for use on their farm. Five cover crop seed options are available. Click on the seed choices below to view detailed information and determine which mix best suits your site and management objectives.

What to Expect
Participants should be comfortable walking outdoors over varied terrain and standing for the duration of the workshop. Please come prepared for changing weather conditions by wearing sturdy walking shoes or boots and dressing in layers.
