Elwha River Planting
When: November 18 (Tues.) from 11:00AM - 3:00PM
Where: 118 Mountain Valley Lane, Port Angeles, WA 98363
Volunteers are needed to plant 3,000 native trees and shrubs directly along the Elwha River and in a meadow overlooking the Elwha River.
Itinerary:
11:00am: Arrive at the Balcomb Big Salmon Ranch in Port Angeles
11:00 - 11:45am: Eat lunch while listening to a presentation on Southern Resident Orca Whales and riparian restoration plantings
11:45 - Noon: Walk to the planting site(s)
Noon - 2:45pm: Plant native trees & shrubs, breaks taken as needed
3:00pm: Depart from Port Angeles
What to Wear/Bring:
Raingear and layers of clothing for a variety of weather conditions
Rubber boots or waterproof hiking shoes (roundtrip walk of 1-2 miles from the parking area to the planting areas; limited seating available in an off-road vehicle)
Sack lunch & water bottle
Gloves and shovels (we will have spares on hand if you don’t have these items)
Other Details: Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, drinking water and a variety of snacks will be provided.
